The same technique works just as well on a feature tree trunk or a retaining wall elsewhere in the garden.

Colour temperature matters more than most people expect when choosing fittings. Warm white (around 2700–3000K) reads as natural and inviting against stone, timber and most planting, which is why it's the standard choice for garden lighting; cool white (4000K+) can look clinical outdoors and is generally reserved for security or driveway lighting rather than a garden feature. Lighting rarely stands alone. It's usually the finishing touch on something else already built.
